An old little editorial spot illo for an article titled The BCS BS.
Concept editorial illustration #3. I got to use this illustration for an Atlantic article that was posted on Inadvertent Haiku about this defining moment in Obama’s Presidency. It’s too early for pundits to project how this will weigh on the future, but it’s becoming clear that Obama’s legacy will be forever tied to the fall of Osama Bin Laden, for better or worse.
Concept #4. Set of editorial illustrations.
Concept sketch 2 for an editorial illustration. I generally dislike reducing complex social and political situations to cleverness. I felt that this tone was much too glib for the week’s news, but I explored it. My usual assessment of this type of work is that it doesn’t do any good in terms of informing or inciting positive emotion. I’ll post some of my preferred work in a bit.
Concept sketch 1 for an editorial piece. I wanted to convey the idea of unraveling to become this looking specter. I’ve realized there is some overlap with some other amazing editorial work that is coming out, but this sketch was done Tuesday night — before I had seen anything else really compelling. Hats of to the work that has been done. Beautiful and impactful stuff.
